Najib / Art:tech is a self taught artist, designer and photographer from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
His passion in art has been in his mind and soul since the day he met his best friends, pen and pencil. He's into traditional drawing, illustrations, digital graphic, motion graphic and photography. He loves fine details, wires, robots, gadgets, machines and weird characters. His artworks are mostly pen/pencil on paper and digitally colored. He also works with other different mediums as well.
Through his works, he tries to express and combine the things he sees, the things he loves and the things he learned. The ideas came out spontaneously, his brain combines everything he experienced and sub-consciously creates images that will later be projected through his drawings. He seldom come up with any concept sketches before drawing the final piece, everything is basically first-hand and spontaneous.
He view his artworks similar to the dreams that we had while sleeping. Its a mixture of what we've seen and experienced in life, added with imagination. It's very spontaneous and unexpected. Just like how we dream, we don't know whats coming, dreams are crazy and we don't even know what does it mean. So its the same process when he's creating artworks, most of his drawings are spontaneous, he didn't plan what he's going to draw next. He love to let people figure out the meaning of his works from their point of view; just like how we will try to figure out the meaning of their dreams.
He’s pretty much influenced by music, his favorite movie Back To The Future trilogy, other amazing movies such as The Fall and The Holy Mountain, his favorite comic Dragon Ball, 70’s-80’s prediction of how the future might look like, great ancient and modern artist and also the aesthetic of cultures and religions of the world.
His artworks had been exhibited in local art exhibitions & major events, and also featured/published in magazines, e-magazines & websites. He's now the owner and director of Eightyfourcube Studio Gallery that consist of a design studio, music rehearsal studio, photo studio and a mini gallery/store in one place.
